Lincoln City had a hectic 31st January bringing in 4 players and signing current left back Paul Robson on a full contract until the end of the season. The Imps also released Striker Gavin Mcallum.
A rejuvenated Lincoln side managed to scramble a late equaliser against play-off chasing Gateshead, in a game which saw both sides finish with 10 men.
The Imps took the lead in the 7th minute when Dominican Striker Richard Pacquette headed in on his first start for Lincoln, but his efforts were cancelled out 20 minutes later when Jon Shaw equalised for the home side with a well placed volley.
Then moments before the halftime whistle, Yemi Odubade headed Gateshead into the lead.
It looked like another disappointing afternoon for the Imps as Odubade added a third with a crisp finish past Joe Anyon, before both sides had a man sent off after an altercation between Alan Power and James Marwood resulted in referee David Bond show the pair red.
However, Pacqquette gave the Imps some hope when he grabbed his and Lincoln’s second with 10 minutes to go.
After a tense final few minutes Lincoln managed to draw level in the 87th minute with Sam Smith capitalising on a mistake between Gateshead Keeper Tim Deasy and their centre half James Curtis.
Imps manager, David Holdsworth gave a much more glowing review of his team’s performance after calling them an embarrassment following their 3-1 defeat to Carshalton mid week.
He said: “”Going 3-1 down, they showed unbelievable passion. Our dressing room’s come alive tonight and I’m very pleased with that.”
Lincoln city Chairman Bob Dorrian believes his club may need to leave Sincil Bank, stating it may be the clubs only way to secure their long term future.
